Debra Hoffmeyer

Founder And CEO

Debra began her career in biotechnology, and has since held every position from patient recruiter and clinical research technician to rater and CEO of CITrials. Debra holds certification in clinical research and is a member of the Society of Clinical Research Associates, the CNS Summit, National Clinical Drug Evaluation Unit (NCDEU) of the National Institute of Mental Health, and the Association of Clinical Research Professionals. She serves on the Finance Committee and Working Groups for Suicidal Thinking and Behavior Assessment and Signal Detection of the International Society for CNS Clinical Trials and Methodology (ISCTM). As CEO, Debra focuses her time on business development and attending conferences on the latest advancements in research and development.

David Poling

David Poling

Chief Financial Officer

Since joining CITrials in 2006, David has focused on expanding CITrials from one site in Orange County to five sites, covering Los Angeles, Riverside, Orange, and San Diego counties. As CFO, David directs all aspects of the business including clinical operations and facilities, accounting, legal agreements, human resources as well as monitoring of financial performance. David holds a BA degree in Finance from San Diego State University.

Alyn Anderson, MD

Principal Investigator

CA AA5770638 Board Certified, GCP/ICH trained, principal investigator for CITrials’ Santa Ana/Orange County location. He brings over 40 years of practice and 14 years of clinical trial experience to his position. Dr. Anderson graduated from Loma Linda College with a Bachelor’s in Zoology before going onto receive a Medical Education M.D. from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara. He is a Patients Choice winner for 2010-2012 and is affiliated with 10 hospitals. He has held various professional positions at Huntington Beach Medical Center, including Chief of Staff, Chief of Medicine, Chairman for the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committees, and most recently on the ECG Panel.

Robert Bota, MD, MSG, DFAPA

Principal Investigator

CA A103585 Board Certified, GCP/ICH trained, APA Distinguished Psychiatrist, principal investigator for CITrials’ Santa Ana/Orange County location. Dr. Bota has over 17 years of clinical research experience and publications spanning Schizophrenia Prodrome, Cognitive Impairment, Bipolar Disorder, Catatonia, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, Major Depressive Disorder, Treatment-Resistant Depression, Schizophrenia Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Alzheimer’s Disease, Acute Agitation, Obesity, Anxiety Disorders, and Geriatric Neurological Disorders. These indications have been treated using both pharmaceuticals and devices. Dr. Bota is an alumnus of the University of Southern California for Gerontology. Dr. Bota completed his internship and residency at UMKC, Psychiatry. He earned the Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association in 2017, received the Physicians of Excellence, Orange County Medical Association Award of 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 as well as many honors and awards.
Eric Chang

Eric Chang, MD

Principal Investigator

CA A104168 Board Certified, GCP/ICH trained, Principal Investigator and Sub-Investigator for all CITrials’ sites. Dr. Eric Chang has 14 years of clinical experience and 6 years of research experience. In addition to his CITrials responsibilities, he has his own private practice, Restore Orthopedics and Spine Center, he also works as an assistant professor for the University of California, Irvine in the Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Care, the Department of Pain Medicine & Rehabilitation, and the Department of Orthopedics. Dr. Chang has a passion for continuing his education and staying up to date on the newest technologies, in the past 5 years he has taken part in many workshops and continued education opportunities. He has clinical research experience with topics such as Pathology, Genetics, Epidemiology, Osteoarthritis, Chronic Migraine, Rotator Cuff Stem Cell, Vector Pain Relief, Stem Cell Injection into Partial Thickness Rotator Cuff Tears, and Internal Medicine.

Diane Highum, MD

Principal Investigator

CA G68947 Board Certified, GCP/ICH trained, principal investigator for CITrials’ Bellflower/Los Angeles location. She has been involved in clinical research for over 23 years working on over 130 industry research projects. Furthermore, she has 10 years of experience in academics as an Investigator. Dr. Highum is an honored alumnus of St. Olaf College for Philosophy, Wesley College for Pre-Med, and Harvard Medical School for her MD. Dr. Highum completed her Psychiatric residencies at both the University of California, Irvine, and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Her past positions include Assistant Clinical Professor for the University of California, Irvine, and Investigator for Pharmacological Development Physicians. She is a leader in the LA area for adult and geriatric patient care and leads a grassroots effort to aid the community in mental health treatment, Amen Clinic. Her CITrials site is a full-service inpatient and outpatient facility. In addition to her CITrials responsibilities, she works as an attending MD at a hospital that also serves CNS subjects.
Dr. Maguire

Gerald A Maguire, MD

Principal Investigator

CA G75084 Board Certified Gerald A Maguire, MD is Professor Emeritus and Founding Chair of Psychiatry and Neuroscience at UC Riverside School of Medicine. Dr. Maguire earned his medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine in 1991 and completed his residency in psychiatry in 1995 from the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Maguire is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, a member of the American College of Psychiatrists, and has received numerous teaching awards. Dr. Maguire has published dozens of articles and delivered hundreds of invited presentations nationally and internationally. Dr. Maguire is considered widely as the leading expert on the medical treatments of stuttering to which he is particularly drawn being a person who stutters himself.

Grace Morehart, MD

Principal Investigator

CA G76030 Board Certified, GCP/ICH trained, Principal Investigator for CITrials, Riverside/San Bernardino/Riverside Counties. She has over 20 years of clinical trials experience and 28 years of private practice experience in urgent care acute medicine. Dr. Morehart graduated from medical school at Rush Medical College of Rush University in Chicago, Illinois, and completed her residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. She became a Diplomate of the American Academy of Family Physicians in 1991.

Myron Reiff, MD

Principal Investigator

CA C36806 Board Certified, GCP/ICH trained, principal investigator for CITrials’ Bellflower/Los Angeles and Santa Ana/Orange County locations. He brings a wealth of research knowledge; internal medicine, 30 years of extensive clinical practice, and 15 years in clinical research. Reiff graduated from medical school at Wayne State University in Michigan completing his internship and residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Reiff currently holds multiple esteemed positions, in addition to his work with CITrials, including Medical Director of the Dermatology and General Practice, and a Physician Provider for MEDXM. He has over 15,000 post-operative care cases in his career, as an expert in medical and surgical management. Dr. Reiff is a Lifetime Diplomate, American Board of Medicine. He would be a great asset to any study!
